Spider-Man 4 finally lands release date but it’s bad news for Marvel fans
The Spider-Man series is getting bigger as the highly-anticipated fourth film has bagged a release date but fans have a long time to wait.
Spider Man 4 has landed itself a release date but Marvel fans have plenty of time to wait as it won’t be releasing until July 24 2026. The highly-anticipated film will release just two and a half months after Avengers: Doomsday which comes out on May 1 2026.
Tom Holland will be returning as Peter Parker/Spider-Man for the fourth time, along with his love interest MJ, played by real-life girlfriend Zendaya.
During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Tom let slip when production and shooting will begin. He explained: “Next summer, we start shooting. Everything’s good to go — we’re nearly there. Super exciting. I can’t wait!”
Tom has played the iconic role in three solo films, Spider Man: Homecoming which released in 2017, Spider Man: Far From Home in 2019 and Spider Man: No Way Home in 2021 as well as appearing in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.
All three movies were directed by Jon Watts, but this time around, Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton will be coming on board to helm the project.
Spider-Man: No Way Home shattered numerous records upon its release in 2021 as it raked in over $1.9 billion worldwide against a budget of $200 million, surpassing its predecessor, Spider-Man: Far From Home, which earned a respectable $1.133 billion in 2019.
The Marvel blockbuster became the highest-grossing film of 2021 and the sixth-highest-grossing film of all time at the time of release.
In addition to setting records for films released during the COVID-19 pandemic, it also became the highest-grossing Spider-Man film.
Following the release date announcement, Marvel fans have been flooding Reddit’s timelines with comments.
One person wrote: “So this guy is gonna have an avengers movie, a Spider-Man movie and a Nolan movie all out in the same year. Is this going to be the first time in history an actor grosses over $4 billion in 1 year?”
