Jeremy Clarkson has opened up on the upcoming series of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, admitting he has been ‘hopeless’ at one aspect.
Jeremy Clarkson has confessed that he finds a key element of Who Wants to be a Millionaire “terrifying”. The popular TV presenter is gearing up for the return of the hit game show on ITV1 on 25 January.
The 64 year old has given fans a sneak peek into what they can expect from the show, and revealed his ‘true’ feelings about the Ask Jeremy lifeline in Who Wants to be a Millionaire. This lifeline allows contestants to ask Jeremy for his answer to the question, adding extra pressure on the presenter.
He conceded that in the upcoming series, he proves to be somewhat “hopeless” in aiding contestants to win.
When questioned if the lifeline has become easier, Jeremy responded: “No, it’s still terrifying. This series I have been particularly hopeless. I was doing reasonably well on my average getting them right, but this series I have been really useless!”
However, he did confess that Ask Jeremy does inject some “adrenaline into proceedings” on the ITV quiz show, reports Gloucestershire Live.
Jeremy continued to say he “doesn’t mind” when questions about farming appear on Who Wants to be a Millionaire, as he is comfortable admitting when he doesn’t know the correct answer.
“No because if I don’t know the answer, I will go ‘there you are, I’m useless’, and if I do know the answer, it’s helpful for the contestant. I don’t mind farming questions cropping up, but they never do,” the host said.
Host Jeremy confessed to struggling with the breadth of questions, admitting: “It’s Greek mythology or women’s literature. I have got about nine jobs! I run a farm, a brewery, pub, do my farm show, I’ve just finished the Grand Tour, I’ve got three newspaper columns a week, I haven’t got time to read many books!”
