Bruce Willis made a rare and special public outing.
The Die Hard star’s wife Emma Heming shared a video of the 69-year-old greeting firefighters amid the wildfires in Los Angeles—marking his first public appearance since his 2022 frontotemporal dementia diagnosis.
In the clip, Bruce shakes the hands of first responders while holding a conversation. The Pulp Fiction star even poses for a picture with the fire professionals who have been working to contain the fires in Southern California that have left thousands of residents displaced since they began Jan. 7.
“Spotting a first responder, Bruce never missed a chance to show his gratitude with a heartfelt handshake and a ‘thank you for your service,’” Emma wrote on the Jan. 16 Instagram post. “Yesterday was no different.”
Bruce’s family including Emma, his ex-wife Demi Moore and their three adult daughters Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30, announced that the actor was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2022. FTD, according to the Mayo Clinic, is “an umbrella term for a group of brain diseases that mainly affect the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. These areas of the brain are associated with personality, behavior, and language.”
In the years since, the Sixth Sense actor has remained out of the spotlight. Still, Emma—with whom he shares daughters Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10—hasn’t hesitated when it comes to sharing both sweet memories and bittersweet updates with his fans.
One such moment occurred in December, when Emma reflected on her and Bruce’s 17th wedding anniversary.
