Miley Cyrus’ mom Tish Cyrus and her sister Brandi Cyrus appeared to subtly shade her ex Liam Hemsworth during a conversation about Australian men.
Miley Cyrus’ loved ones came in like a wrecking ball with their subtle Liam Hemsworth dig.
During the “Flowers” singer’s mom Tish Cyrus and sister Brandi Cyrus’ latest podcast episode, the pair appears to shade Miley’s ex as they talked about their affinity for Australian men, particularly Brandi’s new boyfriend Matt.
“Men are trash,” Brandi reiterated after briefly gushing over her new boyfriend during the Jan. 16 episode of the Sorry We’re Cyrus podcast. “They’re all just garbage. Men are just so f–king dense but there’s a couple of good ones out there I guess, and I think I’ve found one, so we love that for me.”
And Tish, 57, agreed.
“I have my hopes up for Matt,” she added. “He’s Australian. I’m not gonna rag on American men but Australian men are just different.”
This prompted Brandi, 37, to slyly interject, “Well, not all of them.”
To which Tish replied, “Oh, that’s true.”
The mother-daughter duo burst into laughter before Tish digressed saying, “Moving on from that subject.”
Naturally, many of the podcast listeners—or Stoners as Tish and Brandi refer to them—caught on to their covert slight at Miley’s ex-husband. As one fan wrote in the comments on YouTube alongside several laughing emojis, “The way they called out Liam Hemsworth.”
And while Tish—who also shares kids Trace, 35, Braison, 30, Noah, 24, with ex Billy Ray Cyrus—and Brandi have never outwardly spoken negatively about the Hunger Games alum, Miley has said that the couple’s marriage between 2018 and 2020 was a dark time for her.
“There’s an idea that during the Younger Now era, I was pure,” Miley, 32, reflected to Rolling Stone in 2020. “‘She’s got a man. She’s living in a house playing wife.’ Dude, I was way more off my path at that time than any of the times before where my sanity was being questioned.”
As Miley—who has been dating boyfriend Maxx Morando since 2021—put of her relationship with Liam, 35, “I learned a lot about what I can and cannot be for someone else and what I can and cannot accept for myself.”

Remembering the Fireworks
Despite the split, Miley acknowledged the spark they felt while filming the 2010 movie The Last Song.
“I think one of the elements that made that movie feel so special,” she shared on TikTok in September 2023, “was it was watching two very young people fall in love with each other, which was happening in real time and real life.”
Miley added, “So the chemistry was undeniable, and that was the beginning of a long, 10-year relationship.”
