Pharrell Says Heâs Unbothered by Drakeâs Disses After the OVO Rapper Bought His Jewelry
Drake has made his disdain for Pharrell known on several occasions with bars from âMeltdownâ and âFamily Mattersâ sniping at Skateboard P. The 6 God even purchased some of Pharrellâs jewelry in the Joopiter auction and flexed in Pâs $2 million N.E.R.D. necklace in the âJumbotron Sât Poppinâ visual.
GQ named Pharrell its Designer of the Year for 2024 and at one point in Wednesdayâs (Nov. 13) interview the Neptunes legend was asked how he felt about Drake melting down his old chains and Pharrell revealed heâs been unbothered by it all.
âNo, because I think beyond all of the on-goings, at the heart of all of it, heâs a fan of music,â P said of Drake making the purchase. âHeâs a fan of the history of what it is, and I happen to be a part of that, and those artifacts are a part of it.â
Pharrell was tight-lipped when questioned about the Drake disses and how âit struck him.â
âIt didnât,â he replied. âNo.â
On a broader scale, the Louis Vuitton Menâs Creative Director explained how letting go of all the jewelry in the auction was his way of disconnecting from the value of the items.

âOr not. I guess some things are not for me to understand. When you let things go, a huge part of it is actually letting go,â he added. âNot just of the physical item, but letting go of your connection to what itâs supposed to mean, or the memory.â
P continued, âYouâre literally letting them go. That was the purpose. Itâs like when people sell something and they go, âI just want to make sure you take care of it because this is my baby.â And Iâm like, âNo, no, no.â This is not my baby. Thatâs why Iâm letting it go.â
Drake jabs at Pharrell on Utopiaâs âMeltdownâ with Travis Scott. âI melt down the chains that I bought from yoâ boss/ Give a fâk about all of that heritage sât,â he raps.
Pharrell even found himself in the middle of the Drake and Kendrick Lamar feud. Lamar stuck up for the superproducer on âEuphoria.â âI donât like you poppinâ sât at Pharrell, for him, I inherit the beef/ Yeah, fuck all that pushinâ P, let me see you push a T,â he spews.
Drake then directly responded on âFamily Mattersâ when baiting Kendrick to come get his legacy â in this case the chains â out of his mansion. âYou wanna take up for Pharrell/ Then come get his legacy out of my house,â the OVO boss replied.
Itâs one of the most-watched automotive competitions each year: Executives and leaders wait in angst to learn if their newest models, on which they spent billions of dollars in development and marketing, make the World Car Awards finalist list for the best new cars of the year. The list is the result of a survey taken among top automotive journalists from around the world who also serve as jurors for the awards, and itâs the run-up to the top awards, which will be announced on March 27th.
Then, thereâs the handicapping: Will Hyundai sweep the awards for a third year in a row? Will one of the many eligible Chinese brands finally rise to the top as a finalist â or winner? Will an electric car take the World Performance Car award again this year, making it three of the last four?
The awards not only illustrate rising trends and marketplace changes, but also anticipate demand, desire and of course, sales.
After designating the finalists for World Car Awards, the bodyâs jurors will further weigh in as they vote on the winners in February. They consider driving dynamics, innovation, technology, performance, marketplace importance and value. (In full disclosure, I serve as a World Car Awards juror.)
