New Captain America 4 Trailer Teases Adamantium’s Importance in Post-Endgame MCU
A new trailer for Captain America: Brave New World has been released. The trailer features a ton of new footage, including some revelations about how important adamantium is set to be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The world is on the brink of war in Captain America: Brave New World, with several countries fighting for control of adamantium. The trailer reveals that many believe whoever holds the most versatile metal — sorry, vibranium, but you’re now #2 — in the MCU will have power over the rest of the globe. With several threats after adamantium, Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson/Captain America is committed to making sure it doesn’t end up in the wrong hands. Check out the new trailer below.
What Is Adamantium?
Introduced in The Avengers #66 in 1969 by Roy Thomas, Barry Windsor-Smith, and Syd Shores, adamantium is an indestructible metal alloy that fans will recognize from the X-Men movies as the substance bonded to Wolverine’s skeleton and claws. Captain America: Brave New World will mark the first mainline MCU movie to feature adamantium, excluding Deadpool & Wolverine’s Wolverine variants who already had adamantium-coated skeletons and claws. The upcoming Captain America movie will seemingly reveal that adamantium can be mined from the Celestial Tiamut, who was turned into marble by Sersi in the 2021 movie Eternals.
Despite being a prominent part of Wolverine’s history, the beloved mutant is not expected to appear in Brave New World. Instead, the Captain America sequel will serve as a follow-up to the 2021 Disney+ limited series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, as well as the 2008 movie The Incredible Hulk. In the upcoming movie, which Mackie recently described as “old-school Marvel,” Captain America finds himself at the center of an international incident following the election of Thaddeus Ross as the President of the United States and must work to stop the true masterminds behind it.
Captain America: Brave New World is currently tracking towards a domestic box office debut of more than $95 million. While these current projections fall under the opening weekend of the last Captain America movie, the Avengers-filled Civil War ($179 million), it is on par with the opening for the non-cameo-heavy Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($95 million). The runtime for Brave New World was recently revealed to be 1 hour and 58 minutes, making it the shortest installment yet in the Captain America series.
Who Stars in Brave New World?
Besides Mackie, Brave New World stars Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus Ross, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Shira Haas as Ruth Bat-Seraph, Giancarlo Esposito as Seth Voelker/Sidewinder, Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader, and Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, among others.
Directed by Julius Onah from a screenplay he co-wrote with Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, Captain America: Brave New World opens in theaters on Feb. 14, as part of Phase 5 of the MCU.
The Mazda Miata is a car that remains forever young, even as it reaches its mid-30s. To celebrate, Mazda has announced a special-edition 35th Anniversary model that will be available in the U.S. for 2025. The existence of the anniversary MX-5 was no secret, as the car was revealed in Japan in October 2024. Mazda said in December the car would be coming to America, but plans and details about the U.S. model have been under wraps until now.
Mazda chose the Rolex 24 at Daytona as the backdrop to its announcement, appropriately timed with the MX-5 Cup race. Mazda showcased the 35th Anniversary alongside a Miata-only parking area and several Miata models from the Mazda North American Operations collection.
The 35th Anniversary will be limited to 300 cars in the U.S. and will only be available in Artisan Red Metallic—a glittery wine red, slightly darker than Mazda’s famous Soul Red Crystal, which was first seen on the CX-90. Wheels are 17-inchers in a multispoke bright finish wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza tires. A beige soft top folds back to reveal tan nappa leather Grand Touring seats, which are more comfort-oriented. There’s also tan carpeting and floor mats as well as color-matched trim around the climate vents and upper door panel. Anniversary badges including the car’s serial number offer a callout on the front fender, while an interior reminder is embossed into the headrest.
The Miata earned its reputation as a sports car due to its accessible handling and enjoyable driving characteristics, and the 35th anniversary will be no different. It features tuned Bilstein dampers, an asymmetric limited-slip differential, and a stiffened shock tower, all of which are also on the Grand Touring trim. With no changes to the driveline or curb weight, we expect the 35th Anniversary to share performance numbers with the previous RF Club, which had a zero-to-60-mph time of 5.5 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 14.3 seconds, and a skidpad result of 0.90 g.
The 35th Anniversary features the same Skyactiv-G 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine making 181 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. Customers for the special edition will benefit from all the equipment found on the Grand Touring trim, including heated seats (a must in a convertible), wireless phone connectivity, Alexa Built-In, Bose audio, and native nav in an 8.8-inch infotainment screen. The 35th Anniversary is only available as a softtop convertible and with the six-speed manual, so it’s top-down and revs up (to a 7500-rpm redline) as the only option.
