2025 Royal Rumble Result: Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens fought for the WWE Undisputed Championship in a Ladder’s Match at the Royal Rumble
Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes have been rivals for ages now. Former friends turned foes when Cody Rhodes sided with Roman Reign at Badblood. Kevin Owens assaulted Cody Rhodes backstage and when Randy tried to be an intermediator, he delivered a package piledriver to him. Randy has been out of WWE ever since.
Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes squared off at the Saturday Night Main Event. Cody entered with Winged Eagle Champion which was initiated by Hulk Hogan and retired by Stone Cold. The American Nightmare won the match but K.O. snipped and performed a Package Piledriver to Rhodes. K.O. took the Winged Eagle Championship with him and has called him a champion ever since. This was just the beginning of the lifelong rivalry. They have been a nemesis to each other ever since.
The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes retained the WWE Undisputed Championship.
Cody Rhodes defended his title in the most brutal match of his career. His body would have given off due to the beating he received from K.O. It was his spirit that helped him climb the ladder. The bodies of these two superstars were amongst the few things that were broken during the match. The referees were of no use in the match as both superstars punished each other with everything they could use.
Kevin Owens dominated Cody for most of the match. He sent Cody through the ladder numerous times. There were countless attempts to climb the ladder but no one was ready to give in so early. Kevin Owens took American Nightmare to the announcer’s table. The latter snapped and threw K.O. the ring post.
Owens was busted open during the match but he still went to deliver a Package Piledriver to Cody Rhodes. Cody Rhodes countered it and delivered an Alabama Slam that sent Owens through the ladder. It was all but over as K.O. remained unmoved while Cody climbed the ladder and pulled the championships to retain the WWE Undisputed Championship.
